Pari vuotta sitten syntyi nuotiotulilla ajatus:
Suomen luonnossa liikkujat kaipaavat paikannusratkaisua, joka on edullinen, luotettava ja tietoturvallinen. Paikkatiedot eivät saa päätyä ulkomaisten yhtiöiden hallintaan. Järjestelmän on toimittava myös erämaissa, joissa puhelin ei saa yhteyttä tukiasemiin.
Idean ympärille koottiin monialainen tiimi. Tiimissä yhdistyivät vuosikymmenten kokemus ohjelmistokehityksestä, tuotesuunnittelusta ja metsästyksestä.
Ensimmäiset kuukaudet keräsimme käyttäjätarpeita ja analysoimme markkinoita. Seuraavan vuoden rakensimme prototyyppejä ja testasimme niitä kenttäolosuhteissa. Syksyn 2025 aikana järjestelmä osoittautui niin hyvin toimivaksi, että oli aika siirtyä talkootyöstä yritystoimintaan.
Loimu Labs Oy perustettiin tammikuussa 2026. Toimintatapamme on FUBU (For Us, By Us) eli käyttäjäyhteisön jäsenet tekevät tuotteen omalle yhteisölleen.
Kevään 2026 aikana saimme tietää, että moni muukin haaveili samasta kuin me: suomalaisten omassa hallinnassa oleva luotettava ja käyttäjille edullinen paikannusjärjestelmä. Yhteinen tavoitteemme on suomalaisten luonnossa liikkujien kokonaisturvallisuus.
Ensimmäinen kohderyhmämme on metsästäjät, ja kasvu jatkuu vaiheittain muihin luonnossa liikkuviin ryhmiin. Haluamme edistää suomalaista luonnossa liikkumisen kulttuuria.
Loimu on suunniteltu tietoturva edellä ja kunnioittaa yksityisyyttäsi. Vain sinä päätät, kuka näkee sijaintisi, eikä tietojasi luovuteta kolmansille osapuolille. Kaikki ryhmän sisäinen viestintä on päästä päähän salattua: sekä ääni- että tekstiviestit.
Haluamme varmistaa Loimun paikannusjärjestelmän luotettavan toimivuuden ennen kaupallista lanseerausta. Seuraavien kuukausien aikana jatkamme tuotteen testausta entistä laajempien testiryhmien kanssa. Kesään 2027 mennessä julkistamme tuotteemme.

A couple of years ago, an idea took shape around a campfire:
Everyone who spends time outdoors deserves a positioning solution that is affordable, reliable and secure. Location data should never end up in the hands of foreign companies. And it has to work deep in the wilderness, far beyond the reach of any cell tower.
A multidisciplinary team came together around the idea. We have decades of experience in software development, product design and hunting.
We spent the first months listening to users and studying the market. Over the following year we built prototypes and put them to the test in the field. By the autumn 2025 season, the system worked so well that it was time to turn our shared effort into a real business.
Loimu Labs Oy was founded in January 2026. We work the FUBU way — For Us, By Us — building the product for the very community we belong to.
In spring 2026 we discovered that many others had been dreaming of the very same thing as us: a reliable, affordable positioning system that stays in Finnish hands. Our shared goal is to keep everyone safe wherever they roam in the Finnish outdoors.
We are starting with hunters, and will grow step by step to serve everyone who loves the outdoors. Our mission is to nurture the Finnish culture of spending time in nature.
Loimu is built with security and privacy at its heart. You alone decide who can see where you are, and we never share your data with third parties. Every message within a group, both voice and text, is end-to-end encrypted.
We want Loimu's positioning to be flawless before we launch commercially. In the coming months we will keep testing with ever-wider groups, and we will bring the product to everyone by summer 2027.
